AI-AI White Paper

A Transparency Model for LinkedIn Posts – White Paper

Introduction

As generative AI tools rapidly evolve and become more integrated into everyday life, a conversation is growing about the authenticity of the information we receive from all modes of communication. Any mode where the success of the messaging is determined by “the machine” itself and its associated algorithms is especially suspect, as “engagement” is what it feeds on.

All AI tools are easily instructed to automatically create and respond to messages and posts, which can significantly boost the desired engagement effect and immediately and exponentially expand someone’s online presence.

This seems advantageous, but at what cost, and what is the “quality” of that engagement?

LinkedIn, specifically, is where professional voices are “traditionally” expected to be genuine and trustworthy. The rising tide of “AI-generated” posts, reposts, comments, and other content on LinkedIn is creating skepticism about what’s real and what’s not.

Generative AI tools should play a role in enhancing research, effectiveness, clarity, and other aspects.

In my view, however, they should not be the primary and only role, as that will eventually result in a diminishing return for the protagonist user.

While I can’t control others’ choices, I prioritize truthfulness and transparency in everything that I do.

That’s why, for my LinkedIn posting activities, I’m introducing the AI-AI (Artificial Intelligence – Authenticity Indicator) Scale.

Why Authenticity Matters

More automation means more content, but not always more value.

We do not need more content! Value is what matters. When the lines blur between human and machine input, audiences deserve to know what they’re reading. Transparency builds trust.

I don’t reject AI in any way, but I do embrace a responsible and transparent approach that respects readers and clarifies the “ingredients” behind each post.

From my brief research on this topic (yes, with AI), I am aware that LinkedIn is aware of the authenticity topic and has emerging standards being developed in association with Gartner, the EU AI Act.

What is the AI-AI Scale?

The AI-AI Scale is a simple transparency labeling system, which I will apply to each LinkedIn post. It indicates the level of human authorship and authenticity for each post.

  • High: The thoughts, opinions, and message in the post are entirely mine, based on my experience, research, or business activities. I may use AI for editing and polishing, but the core ideas are entirely my own.
  • Medium: The post is a blend of my core ideas plus additional prompts to AI and their results for expanding, brainstorming, or checking facts. AI was my assistant, not the author.
  • Low: The content is mainly generated by AI, with minimal input, oversight, or direct authorship from me. AI was the author.

AI-AI Scale Badge for LinkedIn Posts

On each of my LinkedIn posts, you’ll see an AI-AI Scale Badge at the top and at the bottom, a brief description of the scale legend, and a link to this White Paper for a deeper explanation.

Top of post:
Note: AI-AI = High Authenticity (see scale below).

Bottom of post:
AI-AI (AI-Authenticity Indicator) Scale:
High = My original thinking, AI only for polish.
Medium = My ideas + AI insights.
Low = AI-generated with minimal input from me.

Why I Use This AI-AI Model?

  • Clarity for Readers: You immediately know the authenticity of the post and how much of the post is AI-assisted.
  • Accountability: It keeps me honest and critical of my process and shows respect for my audience.
  • A Signal for Others: I hope other professionals will adapt and share their own indicators (or use mine, it’s an open concept!) to help maintain transparency and trust in our professional communities.

How You Can Use or Adapt the AI-AI Scale

I invite others to use, adapt, or contribute to the evolution of the AI-AI model. Add the hashtag #AI-AI to your posts to signal commitment to professional transparency and join the movement.

The concept of a transparency badge, such as AI-AI, isn’t a standard or any sort of requirement (yet!), but anyone who values trust can use AI-AI or a similar disclosure.

Whether you’re an executive, a marketer, a recruiter, or a creative, a simple authenticity badge signals your willingness to be open in a new era of blended creation.

Invitation

What do you think? Would you find it helpful if more posts came with a visible “authenticity label”? I’d love your feedback, suggestions, or creative tweaks. Authenticity is a community project.
